Hague beaches: better accessibility for everyone

This beach season there are again facilities available for people with a disability in Kijkduin and Scheveningen. This way everybody can enjoy a carefree day of sun, sea and beach.

A public, accessible toilet unit can be found on the beach at Strandtent 14. In addition to disabled toilets, there are also a shower and a charging station for mobility aids. The beach restaurant has 2 push wheelchairs which you can borrow for free. You can reserve it by phoning the beach restaurant on tel. (070) 368 31 65. The municipality has created 3 concrete paths towards the sea in Kijkduin with a lookout point by the tide line. These can be found at Strandtent 14, La Cantina and People.


The municipality has also created 3 accessible paths with a lookout point at the tide line in Scheveningen. These can be found at the Hart Beach surf school and De Waterreus beach restaurant, by the Carlton Beach Hotel and on the south side of the Scheveningen Pier by the police container on the beach. Directly next to the path by Hart Beach is a beach shower. Grand Plage beach restaurant is paying extra attention to people with a (visual) impairment by offering a braille and large print menu. For no charge you can borrow the Tiralo 2, a wheelchair which can be used in the sea thanks to special flotation devices. You can reserve the wheelchair by phoning the beach restaurant on tel. (070) 355 35 64.


There are special beach wheelchairs and beach walkers for rent at the Biesieklette facilities in Kijkduin (Deltaplein) and Scheveningen (Strandweg haven). These cost € 2.50. You can reserve using the Biesieklette app. Biesieklette Strandweg haven has disabled parking spaces, an accessible shower and changing room, a disabled toilet, a hoist and charging points for electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters. You can also rent the electric beach wheelchair called the Cadweazle for € 5.00.
